History and present of (post-)migrant self-organization against racism
The year 2020 will go down in history as the beginning of the global Covid 19 pandemic. Will this also apply to the racist violence that occurred simultaneously in the United States, the Federal Republic of Germany, and many other countries? In the spring and summer of 2020, the protests of the Black Lives Matter movement, first in the U.S. and soon thereafter around the world, took on a dimension not seen since the days of the African American civil* rights movement. In Germany, right-wing terrorism claimed nine lives in Hanau in February 2020 - all with migration histories.
This book aims to both characterize and analyze the connections between the city‘s structures and those of racism. In what ways does racism affect everyday urban life, education, public space, housing, or institutions such as the po- lice? And in what ways can it be countered? After all, the city is not only the site of racist events, but also the space for anti-racist struggle.
