This podcast was created as part of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation's project "Erinnern stören – der Mauerfall aus migrantischer und jüdischer Perspektive".
In two episodes, Lydia Lierke talks to different interview partners* about migration, asylum, anti-racism, anti-roma prejudices and related political struggles in the GDR and beyond. In the first episode, Lydia talks to Ovidio and Rudaba about their migration to the GDR, their childhood and first memories in the country but also about their experiences as young adults in the 90s.

Moin, hello, selam, مرحباً – I'm Kaya Peters (he/him), a multimedia artist, sound designer, and urbanist based in Berlin.
My work explores the intersections of sound, space, and storytelling, with a focus on memory cultures, postmigrant society, and social movements. Combining critical urbanist perspectives with experimental media techniques, I create immersive experiences that reflect the complexities of identity and collective memory.
I hold master’s degrees in Urbanism (M.Sc.) and Media Art and Design (M.F.A.) from Bauhaus University Weimar. Through my transdisciplinary approach, I aim to spark conversations about belonging, resilience, and transformation in contemporary urban life.
