In the first weeks of the lockdown, a phenomenon emerged that was to intensify: The closer environment, suddenly becomes the hub of daily life, the parks the airy and therefore safe meeting place for people, open living rooms of the city. The Rabet district park fulfilled this function even before the pandemic, as a young man from the park tells us. For him, this is family: „You don‘t like everyone the same, but you get along.“ Even spending time here in the park doesn‘t mean the same thing to everyone.
Moin, hello, selam, مرحباً – I'm Kaya Peters (he/him), a multimedia artist, sound designer, and urbanist based in Berlin.
My work explores the intersections of sound, space, and storytelling, with a focus on memory cultures, postmigrant society, and social movements. Combining critical urbanist perspectives with experimental media techniques, I create immersive experiences that reflect the complexities of identity and collective memory.
I hold master’s degrees in Urbanism (M.Sc.) and Media Art and Design (M.F.A.) from Bauhaus University Weimar. Through my transdisciplinary approach, I aim to spark conversations about belonging, resilience, and transformation in contemporary urban life.
